Last year Beaufort Memorial was among the first hospitals
across the nation in becoming a volunteer participant in
the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital
Compare quality data reporting program. Participating
hospitals volunteer to report to CMS certain types of information
related to three common medical conditions – heart
attack, heart failure and pneumonia. Click

Surgical Infection Prevention
Preventing surgical site infections is critical to a patient’s
safety and recovery. Three years ago BMH adopted a three-step
program to reduce surgical site infections. These steps have
been shown to decrease the incidence of post-operative infections
and are being reported nationally. Click here

National Patient Safety Goals
BMH has been taking great steps toward preventing medical
errors and making the hospital as safe as possible for our

American Heart
Association “Get with the Guidelines” program
Two
years ago BMH received recognition from the American Heart
Association as a Get With The Guidelines —Coronary
Artery Disease hospital, signifying that the hospital is
participating in the initiative designed to reduce the risk
of recurrent heart attacks by helping hospital staff follow
proven, evidence-based guidelines and procedures while coronary
