Nurse Refresher Courses Offered Through BMH
There is good news for Registered nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses with expired licenses! Both disciplines can participate in a Nurse Refresher Course to reactivate their nursing licenses through the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Beaufort Memorial Hospital affiliates with various Nurse Refresher Programs, most commonly Greenville Tech and South Dakota State University.
The attractiveness of the course is that it can be taken anywhere. Besides the 98 hours of class time online and in the laboratory, the course requires 80 hours of clinical contact in an acute care setting with a trained and skilled preceptor. This is where Beaufort Memorial comes into the equation. Knowing that the nursing shortage will not go away, BMH wanted to explore ways we could enlarge our pool of nurses locally.
"What better way to address the nursing shortage than to ‘host’ students in your own hospital?" says BMH Vice President for Patient Care Services Karen Carroll, R.N. "They can get to know us and how we work, and, at the same time, we can get to know them."
