Leaving the Hospital

The usual hospital stay at BMH is two days, counting the day of delivery, and three days for a cesarean section birth. Once your doctor signs the release forms, you and your family are free to go home. When that time comes, we’ll do whatever is necessary to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Getting ready to leave

To make your departure easier, it’s a good idea to send home all flowers and gifts the night before you go home. Be sure to have a receiving blanket and a discharge outfit for your baby. The hospital will provide T-shirts, a supply of formula and complimentary gift packs.

Car safety

South Carolina law requires the use of car seats for children under three years of age. For the safety of your new baby, please bring an approved car seat to take your baby home. Use it every time you travel with your baby.
