The Birthing Center

The joy of delivering your baby is one emotion you’ll remember for a lifetime. Expectant mothers, fathers and siblings arrive, thrilled to welcome a new family member into the world.

We’re delighted you have selected us to help guide you through this miraculous experience. Our goal is for you to have a happy and comfortable delivery and to help you prepare to take care of yourself and your baby once you’re settled back home.

This section of our Web site will take you through the entire process, so you’ll feel more at ease when you arrive. It also outlines some of the classes and programs we offer expectant mothers, new mothers and their families. Take a few moments to familiarize yourself with our policies. This information will make your arrival and stay as pleasant as possible.

Registering at BMH

To register for classes offered through Baby University, call (843) 522-5570. You can also register by e-mailing Dixie Slichter at dlslichter@bmhsc.org.

When you register, you will be informed of the date, time and cost of your classes, and what you need to bring with you. The cost for each class varies from free to $50. Bring a check or cash with you when you join your class. We look forward to seeing you at Baby University.

Insurance

To meet precertification requirements, notify your insurance company of your upcoming birth as soon as possible. You will also need to contact your insurance company within two days of delivery to add your child to your insurance policy. Some insurance companies allow up to 30 days; however, we file our papers five days after your discharge.

Hospital Tours

One of the best ways to take some of the mystery out of your first birthing experience is to visit our Birthing Center. You’ll learn a little more about what to expect and meet some of our wonderful staff. Scheduled tours are offered on the first Monday evening of every month from 7p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This is a Free service. No reservations required.
