Cancer Center Staff

Connie Duke, RN, BMH Oncology Services Director, was involved in the development of the new cancer center, with consultation and assistance from representatives of Duke University Health System (DUHS). Having moved to Beaufort from Huntington, West Virginia, she was Director of the Cancer Center at St. Mary’s Medical Center for ten years. She helped St. Mary’s develop an affiliation with DUHS while she was there. She is thrilled to have a staff of expert cancer specialists on board.

Gino Giordani, Chief Radiation Therapy Technologist, joins us from Baptist Hospital in Miami, Florida. He has over twelve years experience in radiation therapy.

Lincoln Maynard, Radiation Therapy Technologist, formerly worked at the community cancer center of Lake City, Florida.

Michele Spanos, Radiation Therapy Technologist/Certified Medical Dosimetrist, has over 18 years experience in radiation therapy. In addition to having a degree in radiation therapy, she is a certified medical dosimetrist. She works with the physicians to develop the radiation treatment planning for each patient.

Cynthia Bryant, MD, is a radiation oncologist who came to us from the faculty of Emory University Medical School in Atlanta. She will be based at the Keyserling Cancer Center full time.

Rosemary Blanken, RN, originally from Pennsylvania, worked four years in a medical oncology department, and 19 years in radiation oncology.

Kim Thackeray, registrar, comes to us from Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston. She has worked in a radiation oncology setting for over 13 years.

Radiation oncology services are being provided by the practice of Drs. John Duttenhaver and David Weems of Savannah. Richard Fitzgerald, MD, formerly of Roper Hospital, is providing the radiation oncology services at the cancer center from April to July.
